Clippings: Sammo Adverts from 1919


Here are a few Sammo ads from a music industry rag dated 1919.


Sammo instruments are relatively rare compared to other "brands." I say that in quotes because for the most part, I think Sammo fretted instruments were made for them by Harmony. Some might disagree, but many of their models, except for superficial changes, are so darn close in build, materials, and measurements to Harmony makes, that without seeing a label it'd be very hard to tell the difference.


Some day I might put up some "compare and contrast" photo essays about some of my maker hunches, but for now I'll just leave it at a good hunch.


This banjo-uke, however, may have been a different make.
